A Message And An Olive Branch

There has been talk, The Swift Boat Veterans For Truth were nothing but a front for the RNC and Bush's campaign. They were also accused of being liars and tellers of half truths. This of course was being spouted by the *cough* always un-biased, no agenda here folks *cough* Main Stream Media. The various sycophants for the Kerry Konvoy also sunk to the occasion, lobbing misinformation and innuendo after innuendo at the stalwart Vets.

Since their formation, they have only wanted one thing. To get the truth out regarding Senator Kerry's less than spotless record while in Viet Nam, and his reprehensible actions as an anti-war activist upon his return to the states. It would seem they have been remarkably successful, judging by the best seller status of "Unfit For Command", and the growing response to the three (now four) ads which even the DNC and their disgusting attempts at censorship couldn't torpedo.

Now, they have held out an olive branch. This would hardly be something done from any position other than one of strength. And The Swift Boat Vets For Truth are strong and growing stronger. They are ready to throw in the towel and go their separate ways, if only Senator Kerry will be honest and forthright about his time in Viet Nam, and the actions/words attributed to him while an anti-war activist.. They must have been sitting in on the same poker playing lessons that President Bush got. The gauntlet could not have been thrown down any harder. It is up to Senator Kerry now. Be a man for once in your pampered life....do the right thing ....sign the 180.

Don't bob and weave, or nuance your way out of what happened while you were an anti-war protester, and spoke in front of the Senate. Be honest with the American public and yourself. Apologize to the American vets you slandered. Hell, even Hanoi Jane did that, are you no better than that dried up, tight skinned, poor excuse for a human being?

"The Spirits Are About To Speak!

Around the blogsphere in the past week there has been a chart which purported to show exactly how "Those Mean Republicans ™ " , specifically those on the Presidents campaign team, are directly tied to The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. But that chart was woefully inadequate. HERE is the truth! This is where it shall all be made clear. Oh, set down your drink before entering!!!

Ain't No Buchanan Here

In one of my previous posts, it may have come across that I am for the closing of all our borders (and by implication, the stopping of immigration to this country). And so, I will respond to that issue.

I think after the election the border issue will see the light of day (as I said before). But I am not for closed borders. I am for monitored borders with legal imagration continuing perhaps even increasing. That has been how this country has grown and remained strong all these years.

Heck, I am only second generation American on both sides of the family. All of them came from countries which fell to the communists. Indeed, one was (a great grandfather on my mother's side) a Russian Cossack. They all (to the best of my knowledge) came through Ellis Island. And that even resulted in one of my great grandmother's name to be changed to something the naturalization folks could pronounce. This is the land of opportunity. One only has to look at what my parents, grandparents, and great grandparents started with and what they ended up with at the end of the day.

And look at two of the finest bloggers out there, Kim du Toit and Misha...both came to this country and it would be hard to find finer examples of Americans or folks who love and believe in this country and the opportunities offered here.

So, yes we need to monitor, patrol, and aggressively contain any illegals entering this country, from all paths of entry, be it borders, ports, or airports. But we also need to continue our proud history of letting folks come to this country to partake in our noble experiment. They just need to follow the rules. And we need to enforce same.

Pat Buchanan would have us behind the castle with moat encircling...and no way to enter. I would agree to the wall and maybe even the moat...but there has to be at least one large gate with a shining light beaming through. Ain't no Buchanan here!

I Bet He Would Approve

It seems the muse has struck Russ hard.

And he sent me a bit of verse he penned. I thought it needed a bit of sprucing up, to do his words a bit of justice. So here it is ....

I bet Mr. Kipling would approve!

This Bomb's For You?

George Will has a rather thought provoking column today. In it he makes a point about something which has not been talked about all that much, especially now, with "in the home stretch" politicking going on.

Anyhow, Mr. Will brings up a valid point. Are we aware of how easy it is to get the needed ingredients for the making of a small (but catastrophically deadly in a heavily populated area) nuclear device? Did we know how much high grade fissionable material is unaccounted for? And perhaps most important to us. Are we aware at how easy it would be to get all of this together in this country.

These are great, if more than a bit scary, questions. As porous as our borders (still) are, and as (apparently) open our ports, it would seem the real question would not be if, we will see one (or more) mini-mushroom clouds in any given major city, but when.

And to be fair to both the government and the various agency's tasked with securing our borders, and transportation into and across the country, short of inspecting every bit of cargo and person, would bring us to a virtual stand still. Remember how things were backed up when we first started inspecting just the airlines and passengers?

But I digress. Will's real question is who do you think will be the better man to have in the oval office. He, in the final analysis, goes with Bush. But notes Bush's critics say he is stuck in the 1980's with all the talk about strategic defense.

I wonder how much the Democrats, John "I Never Made It To An Intelligence Briefing Yet ™ " Kerry, or anyone else on that team would deal with this? Or even if they would take it very seriously, beyond lip service that is.

There should be more done to monitor the borders. And not just at the check points. There is a lot of land on our southern border alone, which is crossed every night (and day) by folks seeking to enter this country. It is not beyond the realm of possibility agents who would work toward the destruction of any number of persons, places, or landmarks, wouldn't try to cross in much the same manner. The same would hold true for the necessary instruments of destruction.

And lets not forget our ports. And the large gaps in inspecting the incoming cargo to this country. If little toys in the form of the World Trade Center and associated airplane can find their way here, and not be discovered till they hit the market place, along with all the coke, hash, heroin, and other drugs, which enter the country daily. What is there to prevent something(s), or parts of something(s), from entering as well.

Being an optimist of sorts I would prefer to believe the following. I wonder if there are those working unknown and unseen, who are doing their level best to insure we don't have a catastrophe of this type or magnitude. And neither George Will or we know about it. (And if it isn't true, I hope to god the powers that be make it so!)

For if we are just literally and figuratively sitting around with our thumbs up our butts, well then, we may as well get our thumbs outta there and put both hands to good use. Cause when it hits the fan, mushroom cloud wise, there will be precious little time to both move our thumbs and kiss our butts good bye.

Dear John

Received this from someone who believes "you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar". Russ sounds like a class act and the following proves it.

An Open Letter to Senator John McCain from a Vietnam Veteran

Senator McCain,

I begin this missive with an embrazo, as we call it here in Texas, for your
service to our country, as a warrior, as a prisoner of war and as a United
States Senator. You have served far better and endured far more in the
service of America than most men will ever do. For that, this old sergeant
salutes you.

That said, as a Vietnam ground combat veteran, I must take issue with you on
the situation of John Kerry and the Swift Boat Veterans. You have labeled
these men "dishonest and dishonorable," and that, Sir, is nothing more than
your opinion based on no direct knowledge of the events they dispute. For
you to so condemn these men publicly, without any firsthand knowledge of
John Kerry's performance in their midst and under their professional
observation, is unfair to them and all veterans who share their view that
John Kerry is unfit to command. Who was best qualified to evaluate you as a
naval aviator, those senior officers who flew with you or the enlisted men
who serviced your aircraft? Who had the experience, training and knowledge
to make a professional military judgment of your performance in the air, the
trained naval aviators on your wing or the enlisted flight crew back on the
carrier? Certainly the enlisted men were vital in performing the mission but
observing and rating your performance was not their role.

It is my understanding that you originally shared our animosity towards John
Kerry, but during your senatorial service, you came to know him more
personally and chose to forgive him for his labeling you a war criminal.
That you are able to forgive a man even though he had denounced you and your
fellow aviators as you languished in North Vietnamese prisons, with your
captors using his testimony to try to break your will, is truly commendable.
I admire you for your ability to turn the other cheek. However, I must point
out that your forgiveness of John Kerry is purely personal and imposes not
one iota of obligation to forgive him on those of us who still consider him
contemptible.

You carry no mandate to speak for us. Your personal feelings are yours and
yours alone; but, emphatically, you do not speak for us. You spoke up to
defend your friend and your friend has turned your words into talking
points. It is truly reprehensible how the Kerry campaign and the mainstream
media are hiding so cynically behind your condemnation of the Swiftvets,
using your statement as an excuse to dismiss their claims as baseless, smear
politics. Honestly, Senator, did you really intend to provide this kind of
cover for those who are so desperate to prevent the truth from coming out?

With all do respect, since you weren't there to observe John Kerry first
hand as were these Swiftvets, may I humbly suggest that the honorable thing
for you to do, is to stay out of this fight and allow them and us to have
our voice. Moreover, there is one thing you could do to level the playing
field: acknowledge that you have no true knowledge of events the Swiftvets
describe and that your immediate condemnation of these men was premature.
Call on the mainstream media to investigate all parties fairly and determine
whose version of events is true. I understand John Kerry is your friend, but
that places him neither beyond accountability nor above the truth. You have
a unique ability at this moment in America's history to make a difference.
You have long been a dutiful warrior and servant of the people.

Please, do your duty now.

Russ Vaughn

2d Bn, 327th Parachute Infantry Regiment

101st Airborne Division

Vietnam 65-66

I would request that all who agree with the sentiments expressed here copy
this letter and send it to:

http://mccain.senate.gov/

There is little more I can add, except your words ring true, every one of them.
Oh, and if I haven't said this already, "Thank you for your service Russ!" You ever get out in my neck of the woods, your money is no good at the local watering hole, but mine will be *grin*.

Fair and Balanced?? In a Pigs Eye!!

Sigh, I get so tired of the so called *cough* unbiased *cough* MSM. Here is the latest, from the straight shooting, objective, "expert" journalists at AP, on the President.

Bush Readies Second-Term Proposals for RNC

(AP) - Abortion-rights protesters and the first Republican delegates descended on President Bush's heavily fortified convention city Saturday as campaign officials said their boss would use the nomination spotlight to defend his hawkish foreign polices and offer a second-term agenda for health care, education and job training.

Gasp! (Only, damn it!) Abortion rights protesters showed up and oh btw, so did the first RNC delegates. "hawkish foreign polices"? Well, guess it is a good thing to get the objective reporting /non-biased point of view out of the way as soon as possible. Lord knows we can't just keep opinions on the editorial page, the unwashed masses need to be reminded of what's wrong with this usurper of the oval office as much as possible.

"He believes it's important for a candidate to talk about what he's done and, most important, where he wants to lead," said adviser Karen Hughes, aboard Bush's campaign bus in Ohio. "The speech is very forward-looking. It talks about what another four years of a Bush presidency would look like."

well, ok lets mention this...but don't embellish it or anything, we don't want people to think we aren't *cough* objective *cough* or partisan in our reporting....in other words don't piss off the liberal readers!

Democratic rival Sen. John Kerry said most voters won't look kindly on another term for the Republican.

"From supporting outsourcing of American jobs to turning surpluses into record deficits to putting the interest of drug companies over the interests of patients and families, President Bush has chosen to turn away from middle-class families," Kerry said in a statement.

Ahhh this will make the more *progressive* readership happy. Never mind it has little to do with the news at hand. Oh, and just what in the hell is "newsworthy" about the first line here? Are we supposed to be surprised by what Kerry said? Or is this just another "friendly reminder" from the "Totally Objective Press ™ " that a) "most voters" (the dems have more voters/are winning cause we say so) and b) boy are we gonna be mad if this SOB steals......err wins again.

Pre-convention polls showed the race evenly split, though the challenger has lost ground since his convention in Boston a month ago.

Hey!! They got some truth in the article after all...and it pertains to the article.

The GOP incumbent campaigned deliberately through battleground states...

"campaigned deliberately"? Boy am I confused. Was he supposed to campaign "accidentally" through battleground states? "Oops, how did I get here?" "Oh well, lets talk to em anyhow!"

... en route to an overwhelmingly Democratic convention city - fertile ground for protests against his foreign and domestic policies. Thousands of abortion-rights activists marched across the Brooklyn Bridge, 10 abreast in a protest a half-mile long. The night before, 264 people were arrested for disorderly conduct in a bicycle protest past Madison Square Garden.

Damn, You mean NYC is not a Republican stronghold? And it's fertile ground for protests?? Stop the presses! We have real breaking news here! Well this is as good a spot to toss in a plug or two about the numbnuts who have shown up already.....err I mean the good people of the opposition party exercising their constitutional right to freedom of (dis)assembly.

The convention site is less than five miles from Ground Zero, where two hijacked planes destroyed the Twin Towers, killing 2,749 people and catapulting the nation into war. Bush's approval ratings soared as he led the nation in mourning, then ordered troops into Afghanistan to overthrow the Taliban regime and begin the search for Osama bin Laden.

Well, I have to admit, though it is already a bit into the article, this is the truth and unvarnished at that. Better late then never I guess.

Three years later, the terrorist leader is still at large, and the U.S. military is fighting an unpopular war in Iraq. As the death toll of U.S. troops nears 1,000, Bush hopes to persuade voters that the invasion of Iraq has made the nation safer.

Ahhh, there we go....the other shoe drops. Btw, just out of curiosity, other than the liberal moonbats and other assorted hangers on, does the country at large find the war unpopular? Oh, and being we are now there at the pleasure of the recognised Iraqi government wouldn't that mean the war is officially over?

"The power of liberty cannot be stopped," the president told supporters in Lima, Ohio, borrowing a line from his work-in-progress acceptance address. "Freedom is peace. Free societies are not going to harbor al-Qaida."

But even free societies must be diligent. Security precautions here showed it.

hmmmm isn't the last two statements....obvious to the most casual of observers? Or is it just me?

Police were out in force guarding New York roadways, bridges, tunnels and ports, while vehicle restrictions on an 18-square-block area around the Garden snarled traffic in a city already congested.

This seems to be just filler to me....old news or at best (again) obvious news.

Police said they might have headed off disaster as they arrested a U.S. citizen and a Pakistani national in an alleged plot to bomb a subway station in midtown Manhattan.

This in and of itself should be a separate article....and if so, why is it here? And if NOT, why not!!

Inside the hall, the transformation from sports and entertainment center to convention site was complete, with a custom-made podium filling one side of the hall and thousands of balloons above.

A smattering of delegates had arrived midweek for platform hearings, and scores more were making their way to the city. They won't starve for food or attention. Among the parties planned was a huge gathering at the Temple of Dendur at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and an intimate affair in an apartment high above Fifth Avenue overlooking Central Park.

This is interesting, why isn't it further up in the article...say above all the democratic fill earlier???

Bush arrives in his convention city Wednesday after an eight-state campaign swing. He'll spend one night in New York before bolting for the battlegrounds of Pennsylvania, Ohio and beyond shortly after accepting the GOP nomination.

"bolting for the battlegrounds..."? sheesh....enough with the lets show Bush running away from something already....it hasn't worked before and won't work now!

Hughes said Bush will argue that the world and the nation are changing rapidly in the new century, forcing U.S. leaders to adapt. While a desire for stability guided foreign policy for decades, "now we recognize that only when our values and beliefs in freedom are able to take hold will we see our security improve."

The domestic terrain is changing, too, with people constantly shifting jobs and women flooding the work force, Hughes said. "So he'll talk about skills and training and education and portability of things like health care and the ability to own a piece of your retirement."

Hughes declined to give details, but other Bush advisers said he was expected to outline new initiatives on health care and post-secondary education. He will renew calls for tax simplification and allowing people to privatize part of their Social Security benefits, but is not expected to offer new initiatives in those areas.

Individually, none of the measures will be colossal, aides said, but collectively it will make a bold package that they argued will appeal to moderates, many of whom have grown wary of Bush's conservative views and the Iraq war.

"I know he has strong feelings about the need to simply the tax code," said campaign chairman Marc Racicot.

See this? THIS should have been in the top couple paragraphs or two! Judging from the headline, this would be the meat of the story. But where is it? Why almost at the damn end of it!!! Naaaaa no bias in the media here...keep moving right along!!

Looking to the fall, Racicot said he couldn't find any fault with an independent commission's proposal to sponsor three presidential debates and one vice presidential session. Kerry has accepted the proposal. Bush has not.

Bush comes to his convention with a bit of momentum in a race so evenly divided that the smallest movement could cause major ripples. A Time magazine poll suggests that Bush has gained ground on Kerry on the economy, Iraq and the question of who could best lead the nation through a difficult time.

Ok, this could be filler at the end of the article, provided a lot of the above was removed. And what is this bullshit about the race being so evenly divided? From all evidence coming from the "Kerry Konvoy ™ " They are taking on more water than the female population of NYC just before the monthly visit of their "friend". And with even a CBS poll showing Bush with a lead (and we know how fair and balanced *they* are)....oh nevermind, you have to paint the best picture possible for those who actually read your birdcage liner.

But a potential problem loomed for Bush. In Washington, the FBI was investigating whether a Pentagon analyst fed secret materials to Israel.

Ahhhh yes, lets finish on a high note! Not that it has anything to do with the convention. Or Bushes platform. But it sure beats talking about either one now doesn't it. And it is soooo hard to resist getting that final tweak in there.

How do I love the Main Stream Media? Let me count the ways..........

*more crickets chirping than you can shake a stick at*

A Thank You and Do GMTA?

Well, today has been a red letter day indeed. First I get paid a high complement by a man whose passions, and love of life, make his site a daily must see. Thanks again Rob!

Then, I find one of the masters of the "Prolific Press Pundit Corps ™", has thoughts very much in line with something mentioned in this bit of Naval lint, a week or so back.

I don't know whether to get a big head over this or just be very happy I am not the only one who apparently sees the bloody stump of the DNC's handwriting on the wall. Hugh, I hope we are both wrong and that the DNC has neither the brain cells or foresight to have thought that far ahead. Or at the very least Karl Rove's crystal ball has also foretold of this, and the RNC has a battle plan at the ready.

Oh, and as for the GMTA, Hewitt has the Great Mind....mine falls closer to a "Groucho Marx" kinda mind.

The Beginning of The End?

A number of my fellow travelers, bloggers, friends, are having some bad feelings or perhaps premonitions as to where this country is heading.

Jim at Smoke On The Water has made his feelings known, most notably here.

The old salt out northwest, Riverdog , also leaps to the fore with his warning of things to come.

And of course, my two cents.

And there are many others, both du Toits have touched on this subject, repeatedly. And I am more than reasonably sure others have at least broached the subject. You might want to check

here or here and Fran's new home. (Even if you can't find ponderings on this subject, both gents are well worth the read. Their masterful mixing of the written word is pure literary ambrosia.)

So where is this all going?

Well, as Riverdog has mentioned, it is fast approaching the time to host one's true colors. For I think he is far more closer to the truth, than not. Even if my scenario would come to pass, it would only be a stall in the coming battle between the "Kids and Adults". And make no mistake unless there is a major sea change in attitudes, it is coming. And we must not lose! For that would signify the end of this country and its charter, born some 228 years ago. And quite possibly the end to western culture/civilization.

It may not happen as quickly as it would compared to wars and battles previously fought. But it is going to happen and happen soon. I believe we are in the beginnings of it now, a "Prague Spring" if you will, before the spark is provided that hastens what could ultimately be called "The American Armageddon".

Do men and women of conscience (regardless of party or political stance) want to see this come to pass? No, I don't think so. But the mechanism has been in place for sometime...with seeds planted but 40 years ago. By a generation which was given much by their parents and country and gave rise to the first major wave of "kids" being heard and acknowledged over the voices of "adults".

The real question is will the same men and women of conscience take action in the upcoming fray? Or will this most noble experiment vanish from the face of the earth, perhaps never to rise again.

"never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee..."

The Kid or The Adult?

And the battle rages on. Kerry vs Bush, left vs right, liberal vs conservative, chaos vs order, anarchist vs rule of law. The good Mrs. du Toit has commented on this as have others.

We are dividing ourselves along a number of lines. And they have a common tie. (And no, it is not the "Anyone But Bush" vs "Kerry is a Lying Scumbag", though that is certainly a symptom or manifestation of it.)

We are divided on the lines of kids vs adults.

By kids I refer to those who would follow a child's way of thinking and or actions. Along with the same emotional response(s) to how "adults" deal with said response(s) (ie: cause and effects). In other words, kids in the sense of emotional maturity vice chronological age. They will look at any given set of facts and skew them to arrive at the answers they want (Michael Moor's dubious crockumentory would be a good example of that). They will stomp their feet and make noise if a decision is made which doesn't give them the results they were hoping for (election 2000 anyone?). There favorite words and or phrases..."It's not fair!!" "It will work this time I just know it!"

Adults, by the same token, would be those who try their best to arrive at a decision through sound logic, and or reason. They may be passionate about what they are dealing with, but for the most part will do what needs to be done, regardless of feelings. (example: The WoT. No one wants to go to war or looks forward to it. Wars are dirty and oft times bring out the very worst in humanity and in the people who fight same. {they can also bring out some of our highest qualities as well but that is not the point here at the moment} Though looking at the world and the many threats our country and civilization face, sometimes war is the only real option we have. And like it or not, we take it on as the right and proper course of action.)

Here would be a better example. President Carter, while Clinton was in office, went to North Korea to help in negotiations. The end result was a *guarantee* on the part of the North Koreans, they would stop perusing development of nuclear armaments. This would be a kids view of things. "If we just make honorable our intentions, they will be morally required to do the same." This would have a good chance of working if the folks he was dealing with were in fact *honorable*. Sadly for him (and us) that was (is) not the case. That Carter refused to believe there are people in the world who are truly evil, or perhaps is in denial on this, shows a child's mentality to the facts as they really are. This was a lesson he should have taken on board, while as President, in dealing with the Iranians. But, he repeats it again and again. (If I put this cape on and really, really, believe I know I can fly this time!)

An "adult" might try to bargain as well, an example of that would be Reagan and the Russians. He also backed up his chips on the table with the willingness to use American might if need be. And the Russians knew this. But you know the rest of that story.

So, which side is going to take the reigns of power come this November? The "Kid", who has based most of his campaign on his fantasy of being a war hero....before he was an anti-war protester?
Or, the "Adult", who when tasked with leading his country and western civilization (despite the best efforts of the kids in Europe to thwart it), into the greatest challenge faced since the end of WWII. And has taken the much harder road of not only calling those who would destroy us and their followers/supporters what they really are..evil, but has taken arms against them.

My money is on the Adult.

Kerry's Got Some 'Splaining To Do!

A number of folks have talked, commented, and posted about Kerry's ten minute phone call with fellow Swift Boat skipper, Robert "Friar Tuck" Brant Cdr., USN (RET). The content of the phone call can be found at Drudge and a number of other spots round the net.

But I think Jim over at SOTW not only hits the nail on the head, he notes some far fetched thinking , may not be as loony as it sounded.

But here is the question which came to mind after reading Jim's post. If all the vets who served in Viet Nam (other than the Swift Boat Vets of course {according to Kerry NOW}) are murderers, rapists, village and critter burners, etc. Does that make all the rest of us who were Viet Nam era vets, but saw duty in other parts of the world, accessories before, or after, the fact?

But let me phrase this in a way so my feelings about Senator Kerry will not be misunderstood.
Go to hell you spineless, two faced, back stabbing, sub human, lying sack of shit! You not only disgrace the uniform you once wore, you are a discredit to the Navy, your gender, and your country!

(big tip of the Squid Lid to Jim!)

Hutzpah R Us

God, they have hutzpah! The following was directly taken from here

A front group for the Bush campaign called "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" is continuing to spread their lies about John Kerry's military record. Their statements have been contradicted by official Navy records, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune and every man who served under John Kerry -- yet George Bush refuses to condemn their tactics. Through his silence, George Bush is approving their action. And Bush campaign officials in Florida are even promoting events for this front group.

Enough is enough. No matter what these Bush campaign shills now say, John Kerry's commanders remarked in 1969 that, "In a combat environment often requiring independent, decisive action, LTJG Kerry was unsurpassed." In fact, all of John Kerry's performance reports (available on our website) display an absolutely heroic record of service.

What a bunch of pure horseshit!! The first paragraph, hell, the first sentence is a boldfaced lie. The second is also patently untrue. Bush has not been the one who is silent, he has tossed down the gauntlet. It is YOU ASSHOLES who refuse to answer the call. As far as "Their statements have been contradicted by official Navy records, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune and every man who served under John Kerry" goes, who was Steve Gardner, chopped liver??

Monday Musings

Well, it's Monday. The Kerry Konvoy is taking on more water than a camel at an oasis after a week in the desert. Iran rattles its nuclear saber with taunts about building yet another reactor. The Frogs across the pond continue their anti-semitic antics. And the Olympics continue to stumble about (with brief flashes of athletic brilliance) like a runner with a groin pull.

So what to write about?

The President today, stated in no uncertain terms the 527's on both sides of the political spectrum , should cease and desist in their attacks. This is a classic example of the gauntlet being thrown down. Does his well groomed opponent have the cajones to pick it up himself? (a nice tip of the Squid Lid ™ to BitBlog for that)

John O'Neill has done the same thing! He has flat out stated to Kerry

"If he was actually in Cambodia on Christmas Eve in 1968, he should sue me," said O'Neill. "If, in fact those other five boats on March 13th, 1969, if they all fled like he did instead of staying like he knows they did, he should sue me."

I love it when an old Annapolis grad has his shit in one sock. It gets me all warm an fuzzy. And I would ask the same question here, as above, will the frog prince of the far left have the proper male appendages to DIRECTLY answer the call? In both of these cases the answer would be........"crickets chirping".

Even an old an respected warrior has come out to question Kerry's Viet Nam exploits. Bob Dole, no stranger to the hell of war and its damaging effects, calls out Kerry here. Sounds kinda like when your grandpa or favorite Uncle takes you behind the woodshed, to give you a well needed wake up call.

Why, the next thing you know Kerry will have Hillary leading his legal defense against all the "alleged" slings and arrows of outrageous fortune which have been fired across his Konvoy's brow.

Then there is the news coming out of Iran they want to build a second nuclear reactor! I guess they just want to get out of using that nasty oil they have so much of. It wouldn't be Iran has visions of becoming the regions nuclear power would it? Wonder if the Israelis think it is fast approaching the time for a surgical strike (or two), or perhaps something stronger "sand into glass wise"??

Other odds and ends....

Here is a bit of interesting news from one of the "bad boy rockers" of my youth. Yes, even Alice Cooper , is calling a spade a spade. He says all rockers are morons. And anyone who gets their political info from morons has a better than average chance of being one themselves. (hat tip to Aaron)

One bright note of sorts, are we beginning to see a wake up call being given by The American Islamic Conference? Read their faq and such. (hat tip to Blogs of War for the heads up)

So how was YOUR day???

Swift Boat Veterans for Truth

By now everyone has at least heard of The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. They are the men who served with Kerry on the rivers, deltas, and other waterways of Viet Nam.

Well, the main steam media, aka "Kerry's Lapdogs" ™ , has been happily taking potshots at them and the ads they have released. Don't know if I have ever seen such a bunch of unruly misfits armed with misinformation and half truths....since I saw the village mob scenes in "Young Frankenstein". If the media's acts of performing damage control for Kerry were not to be taken so seriously, I would be watching every night just to see the latest acts of buffoonery.

Kerry's Konvoy seeks to discredit the Vets who are risking their reputations, and good names. The Swift Boat Vets, are not out to better themselves, but to have the truth be known about a fellow officer and vet who would embellish his time in service, then use it as the centerpiece of his candidacy. The main stream media would have us never mind it's been so highly revised and overblown, it now resembles a box of "Puffed Southeast Asian Rice" ™ more than it does the truth.

And so, in the interest of having the truth be known. Or at the very least, allowing anyone who may wander by a chance to take a look and see what all the hub bub is about, Here is the first Swift Boat ad and here is their latest .

You want to stop the ads Senator? Want the great unwashed you soooo want to have under your finely coifed command, go on to something else for the remainder of this campaign? Send in the DD 180. You alone can make that happen......

Or start looking for another line of work. And nice guy that I am, I have *just the job for you*. It's just not as President of the United States. What, with your lucky jacket, magic hat, and tall tales. Your flights of fancy more than qualify as works of fiction. I'm sure you would make an excellent novelist, or a top *reporter* for the "Weekly World News" (I hear they are getting mighty low on new "Batboy" stories).

The Real Brownshirts Ban Books

"Where they are burning books,
in the end they will burn people, too"
Heinrich Heine

The first indications of an emerging cultural policy in Germany were barely noticed by the general public. On April 13, 1933 the German Student Association posted a twelve point "Proclamation" at the entrance doors of the University of Berlin, demanding from the universities a greater sense of responsibility toward the German race, the German language, and German literature. This demand essentially corresponded to the direction of the Nazis' cultural policy to be implemented just a few weeks later, yet it appeared to be spontaneous and no more than the usual sign of political unrest among the German students groups. Even when three weeks later the Fankfurter Zeitung announced the explicit demand by the German Student association to remove all "un-German" books from the libraries, the public did not feel alerted to systems of control that soon would permeate all spheres of German cultural and political life.

The book burning ceremonies, that began May 10, 1933 in the public squares of numerous German cities, were also ascribed to the initiative of some radical students, although the presence of prominent professors and Party and and State representatives during these occasions placed the events in a different light. The cities affected included Cologne, Bonn, Frankfurt, Munich, Nuremberg, Wurzburg,

"Children's Literature in Hitler's Germany" by Christa Kamenetsky

In May 1933, the Nazi party decreed that any book, "which acts subversively on our future or strikes at the root of German thought, the German home and the driving forces of our people..." was to be burnt.

above quote from the " Jewish Virtual Library"

On the 10th of May 1933 books were burned in Germany "planned and systematically". The stakes, burning in many German towns, had been put up by students, professors and authorities of the National Socialists. They destroyed an important and large part of the German culture. Accompanied by so called "fire sayings", in which some few authors were named, the books had been thrown into the fire.

The "fire sayings"
Shouting the so called "fire sayings" the books were thrown into the fire. Besides the books of the authors mentioned by name the works of many other writers and academics were burned.

First voice: Against class struggle and materialism! For the community of people and idealistic standard of living! I hand over to the flames the works of Marx and Kautsky.

Second voice: Against decadence and moral decline! For discipline and moral in family and state! I hand over to the flames the works of Heinrich Mann, Ernst Glaeser and Erich Kastner.

Third voice: Against opportunism and political betrayal, for devotion to the nation and the state! I hand over to the flames the works of Friedrich Wilhelm Forster.

Fourth voice: Against the overestimating of the instinctual life, for the nobility of the human soul! I hand over to the flames the works of Sigmund Freud.

Fifth voice: Against falsification of our history and degradation of its great characters, for awe of our past! I hand over to the flames the works of Emil Ludwig and Werner Hegemann.

Sixth voice: Against journalism of democratic-Jewish style, for responsible collaboration for the national erection! I hand over to the flames the works of Theodor Wolff and Georg Bernhard.

Seventh voice: Against literary betrayal of the World War soldier, for the education of the people in the mind of truth! I hand over to the flames the works of Erich Maria Remarque.

Eighth voice: Against arrogant spoiling the German language, for the care of the most valuable property of our people! I hand over to the flames the works of Alfred Kerr.

Ninth voice: Against cheek and arrogance, for respect for and awe of the immortal German spirit. Flames, swallow up also the works of Tucholsky and Ossietzky!

"No publisher should want to be selling books with proven falsehoods in them, especially falsehoods that are meant to smear the military service of an American veteran," "If I were them, I'd be ducking under my desk wondering what to do. This is a serious problem." Chad Clanton, Kerry campaign spokesman

from Salon

The first three blockquotes would be from the last group of folks overly concerned with the reading material of its populous. The final one comes from our friends at the "Democratic Reading Room and Flip Flopping Society ™". They are also concerned about what printed matter you ingest into your brain.

Notice anything similar? A common thread perhaps? Methinks, the wrong side of the street has been branded with the brownshirt tag.
What do YOU think? (You might want to answer that ASAP, rumor has it, the next thing Kerry and his mind controlling enhancing party will be after, are your thoughts.)

I can not write any more about this. The madness which has descended upon the Democratic Party, the Kerry Campaign, the Main Stream Media, and assorted hangers on, should make any sane man's spirit burn with a passion not seen since the founding of this country. I hope with all my heart the President is aware there is a "Clear and Present Danger" in this country as grave and foreboding as any across the sea.

Hey, It Worked In New Jersey!!

Neal Boortz has an outstanding column today. He is brimming with understanding toward the liberal Democrat, and does his best to "Feel Their Pain". Throughout his out pouring of sympathy for the current political version of Lucifer, and the plight of his sycophantic followers, the good Mr. Boortz uses the analogy of car buyers remorse. The Dems bought a lemon at their convention and now they are loath to live with it.

We're friends, right? So let's cut to the chase. You know you really didn't want a 2004 Kerry in the first place. You wanted a Hillary! Just think about those sleek, curvy lines, that flashy grille, the soft upholstery. What's not to love? Come on and admit it. That's your real goal. Hillary Clinton in the White House, a liberal nirvana. You panicked, though, and bought the first shiny thing you saw on the showroom floor.

He takes us on a merry chase as we chuckle and smirk. He admonishes his liberal lemon hating comrades. Boortz says they should get over their hatred of Bush, seeing the real goal as a Hillary white house in '08.

Then at his column's end, clever pundit that he is, he lets them know. We have our doubts as to Kerry really being the car they are driving home, after all.

Tis a great read. With a thought provoking end. But Neal is a ring shy of the bullseye. Read on, I shall try and explain. And when you finish, please understand, I would have laughed had anyone suggested my conclusion, in all seriousness, only a month or so ago. I am not laughing now.

1. Any way you slice it Kerry is a loser. He is melting down on his military service centerpiece. He will have an even harder time supporting his lackluster record in office as senator. And, Kerry has his post Viet Nam, anti-war actions which can and will cause him no end of mischief if brought to the fore.

2. When was the last time, in either party, such a weak candidate was offered to the American People? I would argue in Mondale's case it wasn't him being so bad, as it was Reagan being so good at reaching the hearts and minds of the electorate. And Carter was so dismal a president, only LBJ comes close to being on the same level in terms of voter disenchantment. Ford, was the calm after the storm of Richard Nixon. And the last three examples DID one term as President, so they don't count either. The answer is it hasn't happened since FDR's first re-election at least, and that would be subject to reasonable debate.

3. Of all Kerry's running mates, his choice is most arguably the weakest, or perhaps least effective, of the bunch. And the one man who was second only to Kerry as the most liberal critter out there. Even the most delusional democrat has learned you want to even out the ticket if possible. Carter/Mondale and Mondale/Ferraro being prime examples of what NOT to do in selecting your team for the highest office in the land.

4. Though the Republicans are not with out some funding horsepower of their own, the Democrats have some real muscle in Mr. Soros and others. These gents have DEEP pockets and a publicly professed intent of removing Bush. But I find it terrifically hard to believe the money behind the DNC is as dumb as they may make themselves out to be. Come on, Move on dot org and Michael (or is it Michele..I forget)Moore are major movers and shakers? I will buy off on them generating publicity, but so does a dog and pony show. No, I think our liberal advisory on the money side of things is not nearly as dumb as we may want to believe.

5. Who is in charge of the DNC? It sure ain't Kerry! Why it is none other than Terry McAuliffe. You remember him, he was bestest buddies with the last occupant of the White House prior to Bush. Yeah, that Bubba fella and his wife who used to dabble in heath care plans and such.

6. Remember a little event in the off election season involving a Senator named Torricelli? Well, that gent was just a little too hot for the dems to keep in the running for his seat in the senate. So they replaced him with someone less criminally challenged. That in and of itself would not have been a bad thing. But for the fact they were in direct violation of New Jersey election laws! That didn't stop em...they got the courts to do the famous "activist judge thing ™" and ta da! Now the elections in New Jersey would be "fair"!

What does this all boil down to.

Hillary Rodham Clinton was ALWAYS the Democratic choice for this election.
Neal Boortz only got it half right. All that we have seen has been smoke and mirrors. At some point Kerry will be forced out (be it his war record shenanigans or his anti war activism while still a member of the military, are the most logical choices). Hillary will be asked (and I imagine a finer job of begging on bended knee by the DNC will not be seen, even come the Oscars.) And for the sake of the party, verily, the sake of the COUNTRY! She will come ridding in with flags flying and liberals sighing nation wide.

But can they do this? What are the election statutes for a substitution this late in the game? The answer is simple, it doesn't matter!! The precedent has been set in New Jersey!! To disenfranchise what has (by the non biased MSM of course, *wink* *wink*) been consistently referred to as 50% of the voting public, would not be fair!! They will not be denied their right to vote!

Don't be too sure that wouldn't get done even at the supreme court level. Remember those crazy guys and gals? The same ones that approved the CFR, much to the surprise of many?

Perhaps I am a lone voice crying in the woods. All I ask is that you think about it. Think back on all that has happened in the last four years (including the 2000 elections). This is a master stroke on the part of the Democrats. We should never underestimate our opponent. These folks want their power back, and they want it bad.

Hey, it worked in New Jersey!!!

A Real SHTF Moment for Kerry!

Forget the mainstream media and its attempt at hiding the truth. The flood gates have been bypassed!
Judicial Watch has officially stated the following

Judicial Watch Calls For Investigation Into Kerry's Medals, Anti-War Actions

Formal Complaint Filed Over Senator's Vietnam Awards, Post-Service Activities

(Washington, D.C.) Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today filed a request with the U.S. Navy and the Defense Department for an investigation into the awards granted to Sen. John Kerry during his service with the U.S. Navy in Vietnam. Judicial Watch also requested that military authorities investigate Kerry?s anti-war activities, including his meeting with North Vietnamese and Viet Cong delegations in Paris, while a member of the Naval Reserve.

This is NOT a fly by night organization. Judicial Watch is well respected and more importantly, has clout in a town where that is saying something. The Kerry camp has got to be going in to meltdown over this turn of events, along with the DNC.

As for the Swift Boat Veterans For Truth , they have to be feeling vindicated right about now. And more power to them! They are the true unsung heroes. They have placed their good names and honor on the alter of "Doing the right thing". It would appear, at the very least, the truth is going to be given a chance to see the light of day.

Go and read what Judicial Watch has to say. Here is a copy of the formal complaint. This is quite possibly the beginning of the end for Kerry and those who have hitched their wagons to his fantasy world of lies, smoke and mirrors. Will the mainstream media NOW start to begin seeking the truth? They are, after all, "THE" sharks in the water that is the body politic. And Kerry is fast becoming the largest piece of chum in same.

(A BIG tip of the squid lid to my better half for pointing me in the right direction on this one.)

This is finding the light of day at other blogs as well. Go to Beldarblog , for even more info from a legal point of view.

As it ever was and ever shall be

I am not anywhere close to being a religious man...a lapsed Catholic by choice, a questioner by design, a fool by nature. Still, I have always believed something (someone, some higher power?) had to have started all that is the universe, in motion.

There are "laws" and a choreography to everything in the heavens and on the earth. That we may not begin to fully understand or comprehend the dance, is not Gods fault.

My favorite Curmudgeon has an excellent essay on faith. And postulates on a "what if".

You guessed it. His post got me to thinking. And I think it would lead to the demise of Christianity as we know it. This is of course presupposing the finding of either grave was proven beyond a shadow of a doubt to be exactly that. The graves of Mary (This alone would cause at the very least a major rift in the Catholic Church, and quite possibly the death knoll for that venerable institution.) and Jesus by their very nature, would signal the end of Christianity. But, would it signal the end of mans search for that which set all we know of in motion? I doubt it.

There would be a major upheaval in those whose faith was founded on the messiahic offshoot of the Judaic faith and teachings. There would be many who would swear off any religious mythos or religion in general as nothing more than a pack of fairy tales. And this line is being followed by many in the hedonistic times we live in, right now. There would be those who would not be able to survive an emotional blow like this, and would either succum to madness or take their life out of desperation.

After the initial shock wore of I would imagine there would be a major jump in converts to the Jewish faith (be it Orthodox, Conservative, or Reform). Because this is the "root faith", the old testament to Christians. And perhaps there would be those who would seek comfort in Islam and other religions as well.

But I believe after the dust settled, there would be an even greater quest by men and women for not only what or who started the universe in motion, but to try and find out what lies beyond the final veil. Mankind has tried to find answers to these basic questions not long after we started to walk upright. It is a common thread in all civilizations. And this is the track I feel mankind would take....the one where we collectively hold our heads up toward the heavens asking "Why?". That is the nature of man...that is what keeps us going forward. What is over the next hill? What lies beyond the water? Who created us? Why did we come to be? How? Why do we only live for such a short time on this earth? And were do "we" go afterward?

IMHO, "we" have to go somewhere. It is such a short time to be alive on this earth...it seems (to me) to be such a tremendous waste of potential, energy, call it what you will. To see it all come to an end after this short time....makes no sense. To have beings who are able (in our fashion)) to have conscious awareness of their existence, and then have it end as it does, seems the height of cruelty. And were does the spark of individuality/ self awareness come from which separates us from all other animals?

No, if for some reason it would come to light the Christ and Mary left their bones behind, the faiths built upon this would quite likely fall in to the dust of history...but mankind's quest for the ultimate truths would continue on. As it was and ever shall be, our very nature would prevent us from doing anything less.

Sunday Skinned?

There are many sites who have graced their "pages" with pics and comments about guys and gals who cause their blood pressure and that of the visiting "audience" to rise.

There are places who are known for the view or a catchy title , and those who try to appeal to both sides while being topical. There are, of course, those long standing eye candy sites, who may be on vacation , and the occasional photo op from a relatively new kid on the block.

So, I decided to try and see who would like to grace my page.

Now this lady needs no introduction, 'specially if you are a vet. She used to tour with the USO along with Bob "I know what you guys really want" Hope many times. And she never forgets

But I couldn't expect such a class act to want to hang around here.

So, perhaps a super model some one like this

It would be nice....but she is probably more conservative than I, and would believe everything my wife tells her about me. So no Rachel around here.

I continued my search for a lady to grace my page. And I found one. She knows what she likes and is not afraid to ask for it. She has been there and back........

*Sigh*....wonder if she has a GTO?

John McCain, Haunted by Demons?

With all the war of words about the Swift Boat Vets for Truth and their ad depicting Kerry in a less than favorable light (Truth hurts don't it Kerry). Aside from the whining and pseudo legal garbage put out by the DNC (and others for the Kerry Konvoy), one voice spoke out, which judging by his past actions isn't too surprising at first look.
Yes, I am talking about Arizona's own Senator John McCain.

There has been talk over the years about his checkered political past (Keating Five ring a bell?), including the election ads cure-all (that didn't)which bitch-slaps ignores that pesky first amendment, the CFR. But, his statements concerning the ad placed by the Swifties, is not really about his being a "maverick", or even being an independent thinker.....it goes deeper.

As most folks know Senator McCain was a POW during Viet Nam. There have been other sites and other comments, over the years, suggesting he got the majority of his wounds by not following procedure upon ejecting from his aircraft over the middle of Hanoi. I would humbly suggest until you have done the same, you might want to pipe down about that....ejecting from an aircraft even in optimal conditions is not failsafe....and though I have concerns about the Senator, that isn't one of them.

He landed in the middle of " the Western Lake" and was removed from it by one Vietnamese. Thus started his 5 1/2 year stint as a prisoner of war.
And, on his fourth day of captivity and believing he was going to die, McCain chose instead to deal with his captors. I said, "O.K., I'll give you military information if you will take me to the hospital.". Even this almost failed to work, until the Vietnamese realized he was the son of a senior Naval Officer. Now, only those who have been in that part of hell experienced by POW's of Viet Nam, would have any honest insight to what McCain was exposed to....the rest of us can imagine...based on what we have read or heard from other POW's. Is he a turncoat to his fellows based on his own admissions in so far as he claims to have freely violated the Code of Conduct all service members are bound to? I don't want to address that concern...indeed it is not as important as another question I do have.

Was Senator McCain broken so hard that he can never exorcise the demons his actions past and present would indicate he still faces? If he were just a small town mayor, or a little bureaucrat in a dimly lit office, that may not be much of a concern...certainly others have matters of self worth and conscience they must face constantly...But how many are US Senators....and past (and possible future) contenders for the highest office in the land?

Fact: McCain actively sought to dismiss and marginalize attempts of finding out whether there were American POWs/MIAs still alive in Viet Nam and possibly neighboring countries

Fact: After keeping his distance from Massachusetts Senator John Kerry for a number of years, obstinately due to Kerry's well documented anti-war stance, He has been alleged to have "Made his peace" with Kerry while on a trip to Kuwait.

Fact: The very enemy which caused him physical and mental damage, became the beneficiary of his actions in bringing about more open trade as one of a number of US Senators seeking to help open relations with Viet Nam.

Fact: When fellow vets attempt to present their side of the ongoing saga that is the Kerry attempt to rewrite (Kerry's) history of the Viet Nam war, he summarily dismisses them and calls upon the Bush administration to do the same.

The bottom line is there is more to Senator McCain then meets the eye. Based on what has appeared in print (US News and World Report, Congressional Record[s], McCain's own statements, "The Nightingale", etc) he is a man who seeks to put Viet Nam well behind him....even if the costs are far greater than just the personal well being and mental health of one Senator John McCain.

It is one thing to allow Kerry to dodge and weave as he puts on his "Visions of Viet Nam Heroics Pornshow ™" and attack those without credentials or affidavit's to back up their accusations. But the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth are NOT in that group Senator McCain. They have the poof, they have been there, been wounded, and seen their comrades in arms die there.

You have talked about courage. You have talked about falling short of what you would consider to be honorable conduct. You have the chance here to do what would be considered to be the honorable thing, in really listening to what the Swift Boat vets have to say. And, in doing all of what is in your power to ensure the current Commander in Chief is returned to office for another four years. We are at war Senator, and though he is not perfect, President Bush has the clarity of vision to recognize the evil we are fighting for what it is. Perhaps, in finding the courage within yourself to drop the blinders and see the truth, you will be able to eliminate some of the demons who dine on your soul daily.

A Shining Beacon of Truth

I never thought I was even close to being one of the big dogs writing wise. Most of my "Naval lint" ™ comes from the heart and that is ok, as far as it goes. Though not one of the big dogs, I felt I did run with the rest of the pack. After reading this I am heading back to the puppy pound.

Captain Ed of Captain's Quarters has a pen which truly is mightier than the sword. Where I am but a village mob, with torch and pitchfork, he is a knight in shining armor with Excalibar in one hand and the reigns of his mighty steed, in the other.

With a Holmesian eye for the truth, he ferreted out the facts. His rebuttal to the thugs at the DNC is a masterpiece. But don't take my word for it. Go see a shining beacon of truth, slay one of the many black dragons of misinformation, right through it's heart of lies.

Never Forget!

Human nature is such, that we think most of mans inhumanity to man happening in some despotic dictators private torture chamber. Or of great masses being exterminated, of pogroms and genocide.

Well, every pogrom starts incrementally. The hate starts with words, subtle at first, followed by stronger invective, and then crosses over the shadowy line separating word from deed. Thus has history shown us.

The group perhaps most noted as the example of this, would be those belonging to the tribes of Israel. They know the scourge of the taskmaster's whip. The slurs and lies. The knock at the door in dark of night. The pogroms, sending many to Siberia or worse. The stench of hatred belching from the chimneys at Treblinka, Auschwitz, Chelmno, Belzec, Janowska, where millions died. Others meeting death at Sobibor, and Majdanek. It was vowed over and over after that.... "Never Again!" .

Which brings us to more recent times. It seems, almost 60 years after the holocaust, the specter of anti semitism is alive again in the west (most notably France). Who would have thought this kinda shit would still be possible in this day and age? And of all places, New Zealand.

We need to be aware. This has happened before and now it is happening again. And if it happens to one group...not based on their actions or intent...but purely on their religion, (and DON'T even try to compare them to the islamists, cause I'll slam ya where you stand and ban ya to boot...you have been warned).

And it can (and will) happen to any of us if we do nothing. Are you Catholic? you may be next. Homosexual...don't worry, take a number, you'll be on the list. Czech, Polish, Black, Pagan, wrong political affiliation...your number is there somewhere...it is just a matter of time. If we forget. If we look the other way.

So, go look at the truth and weep...and remember.

“First they took away the crippled,
but that didn't bother me because I wasn't crippled.

Then they took away the Communists,
but that didn't bother me because I wasn't a Communist.

Then they took away the Gypsies,
but that didn't bother me because I wasn't a Gypsy.

Then they took away the Jews,
but that didn't bother me because I wasn't Jewish.

Then they came for me and who was going to save me”

Truth? The Globe can't handle the truth!

Human Events has the sworn affidavits from George Elliott Capt, USN (ret). It does this old retired Sailor good to see an officer and gentleman not knuckle under to the terroristic style of journalism used by some members of the "non-biased" press. I wonder if we will get a full retraction from the Globe anytime soon.

Paging Shyster Shyster and Flywheel

Well, here it is, the letter, the thugs from the DNC are sending to media outlets around the country. Had to hand type it as the only copy out on the web was an image. but word for word exclamation point for exclamation point here it is. Let's take a look:

"August 5th 2004

VIA FACSIMILE

Re: Swiftboat Veterans for Truth

Dear Station Manager:

We are counsel to the Democratic National Committee and John Kerry, respectively. It has been brought to our attention that a group calling itself "Swift Boat Veterans For Truth" has bought time, or may seek to buy time, on your station to air an advertisement that attacks Senator Kerry."

Oh, oh, Warning Will Robinson Danger! Danger!

"The advertisements contain statements by men who purport to have served on Senator Kerry's SWIFT Boat in Vietnam, and one statement by a man pretending to be the doctor who treated Senator Kerry for one of his injuries. In fact, not a single one of the men who pretend to have served with Senator Kerry was actually a crewmate of Senator Kerry's and the man pretending to be his doctor was not. The entire advertisement therefore, is an inflammatory, outrageous lie."

Hmmmm lets look at this a little closer shall we...."Men who purport to have served on Senator Kerry's SWIFT boat....man pretending to be the doctor...men who pretend to have served with Senator Kerry". They let the inmates at the DNC funny farm have access to typewriters and fax machines now? If they had taken the time to look at the Swift Boat Veterans site and watched the video of their May press conference or just read the individual statements of the men, these two assholes who make ambulance chasers look like an honorable profession, would have found none of the men, save one, who in fact was on Kerry's crew have ever stated anything but that they were fellow members of Kerry's Swift boat division or part of his chain of command. This paragraph alone is a bold face lie strewn with misinformation. And it only takes a couple of clicks to confirm it.

"Swift Boat Veteran's for Truth" styles itself as a group of individuals who personally served with John Kerry in the United States Navy in the Vietnam War. In truth the group is a sham organization spearheaded by a Texas corporate media consultant. It has been financed largely with funds from a Houston homebuilder. See Slater, Dallas Morning News, July 23, 2004."

Gee you do a search on the Dallas Morning Snooze...err News for that date and there is nothing on the Swift vets. But lets go back about a week.....ahh there we go, and Slater has a column, and it is luke warm at best...not positive but hardly more than the usual dumocrat discounting via their old friend innuendo.

But lets get one thing straight....at the beginning of the Swifties press conference (in May) they let it be known they are not aligned with any one political view...the members cross both political lines and indeed some are vocal about their independence politically speaking. The DNC who want to limit your freedom of speech by preventing an opposing view to be aired on your local TV station....wouldn't want to clutter your mind with anything approaching the truth or the facts.

"In this group's advertisement, twelve men appear to make statements about Senator Kerry's service in Vietnam. Not a single one of these men served on either of Senator Kerry's two SWIFT Boats (PCF44 &PCF94)."

Well, except for the one gunners mate...but lets not confuse folks with the facts. Or the one where all the others in statements on the Swift Boat Vets site (his fellow officers and chain of command) Never state they served on Kerry's boat at the same time he did ignorant bastards.

"Further, the "doctor" who appears in the ad Louis Letson, was not a crewmate of Senator Kerry's and was not the doctor who actually signed Senator Kerry's sick call sheet. In fact, another physician actually signed Senator Kerry's sick call sheet. Letson is not listed on any document as have treated Senator Kerry after the December 2, 1968 firefight. Moreover, according to news accounts, Letson did not record his "memories" of that incident until after Senator Kerry became a candidate for President in 2003.
(National Review Online, May 4,2004)."

Hey you Clarence Darrow wanna be's! Would you like to share the document in question with the rest of us? Or do we have to contribute to the DNC first? And so what if the doc doesn't make his info known till '03....that wouldn't have any thing to do with the fact Kerry wasn't really a contender for the oval office till then could it??

"The statements made by the phony "crewmates" and "doctor" who appear in the advertisement are also totally, demonstrably and unequivocally false, and libelous."

So you say....again and again...we didn't believe you the first time, why should we start now?

"In particular, the advertisement charges that Senator Kerry "lied to get his Bronze Star." Just as falsely, it states that "he lied before the Senate."

Guess they should have said he lied to get the Bronze Star...but he was really straight forward when the word got in front of the Senate....gee, if that were the case those rascally Swifties would have accused him of flip flopping.....isn't that the current VRWC line used against Kerry? Oh, that's right the Swifties are saying his story was the same both times...but that's not following what you dorks consider to be the VRWC party line!! Oh G-d, they might actually be telling the truth!

"These are serious allegations of actual crimes - specifically, of lying to the United States Government in the conduct of its official business. The events for which the Senator was awarded the Bronze Star have been documented repeatedly and in detail and are set out in the official citation signed by the Secretary of the Navy an the Commander of U.S.Forces in Vietnam. And yet these fake "witnesses" speaking on behalf of a phony organization."

There is a blank here....the good shysters must have lost the feed from the mother ship.

"Your station is not obligated to accept this advertisement for broadcast nor is it required to account in any way for its decision to reject such an advertisement. Columbia Broadcasting System v. Democratic National Committee, 412 U.S. 94 (1973); You Can't Afford Dodd Committee, 81 FCC2d 579 (1980). the so-called "Swift Boat Veterans" organization is not a federal candidate or candidate committee. Repeated efforts by organizations that are not candidate committees to obtain a private right of access have been consistently rejected by the FCC, See e.g., National Conservative Political Action committee, 89 FCC2d 626 (1982)."

Oh Oh, free legal advice...better watch out for the other shoe to fall....

"Thus, your station may freely refuse this advertisement. Because your station has this freedom, and because it is not a "use" of your facilities by a clearly identified candidate, your station is responsible for the false and libelous charges made by this sponsor.

Moreover, as a licensee, you have an overriding duty "to protect the public from false, misleading or deceptive advertising." Licensee Responsibility With Respect to the Broadcast of False, Misleading or Deceptive Advertising, 74 F.C.D.2d 623 (1961). Your station normally must take "reasonable steps" to satisfy itself "as to the reliability and reputation of every prospective advertiser." In re Complaint by Consumers Association of District of Columbia, 32 F.C.C. 2d 400, 405 (1971)."

Whoops there it is!!! The other shoe!!! The veiled threat...you show this commercial...we is gonna sue your ass the commercial makers ass, the commercial funders ass. Seems like a lot of work just to get a piece of ass. But wait, there's more...

"Under these circumstances, your station may not responsibly air this advertisement. We request"

Oh now they "request"....sounds so much nicer than "We expect you to follow orders from the mothership just like we do."

"that your station act immediately to prevent broadcasts of this advertisement and deny any future sale of time. Knowing that the advertisement is false,"

Err...or so you say....but then when ever have you heard of a lawyer being less then forthright?

"and posing the legal authority to refuse to run it, your station should exercise that authority in the public interest."

Oh, in other words "We should do it for the children???" What about the rest of the public that isn't interested...naa that would be you assholes. As for the public that would be interested...if they started to think about Kerry and his Konvoy of lies, half truth, and innuendo...they might vote for someone else. Yeah, I could see why you might not want this ad to run.

"Please contact us promptly at either of the phone numbers below to advise us regarding the status of this advertisement."

Why how nice of you fellas....you are going to keep tabs on this commercial so we don't have to. Gee, just what is the nanny state gonna do for us next.....Protect our freedom of speech and or information, by selecting and or limiting it for us? Naaaa you guys at the DNC would never do that would you?

If I was a station manager, before burning this piece of shit up in the trash can, I would give one or both of the following phone numbers a call. And give them a piece of my mind regarding first amendment rights and veiled threats. As a matter of fact a station manager called up Hannity and told him he did exactly that. And when the dorks found out the Swift Boat Vets had included a press package along with the ad that produced authorized statements backing up the video...he said the dork from the DNC was stunned....they hadn't thought the Sailors might have their shit together. Oh well, need a couple of good general counsels...there might be a couple of them up D.C. way looking for employment before this thing blows over....even rats know when to leave a sinking ship...and Kerry's just took a couple of self inflicted rounds right amidships.

But I had better hair damn it!!

As expected the Kerry Konvoy ™ went crying to their mommy. I wish there was more I could say...but I am still so angry at seeing how they responded....well it's a good thing all we have in the house is a "Smoothie ™".

Go read this. And you might consider letting congress critters and senate seat warmers know just how you feel about their fellow senator running for the highest office in the land.

I bet he is crying on his Heinz honey's shoulder.."But..but..why are they picking on me...they are just jealous cause I had better hair, then any of them."

Swiftboat Vets Strike!

The Kerry camp needs to be afraid VERY afraid. American vets, are angered by the pseudo-heroism of the democratic candidate. They see red due to his actions of dishonoring Viet Nam vets in front of, and while chairing, senate subcommittees.

To quote Kerry's new slogan, take heart vets, "Help is on the way ™!"

The Swiftboat Veterans For Truth have begun their broadside of the Kerry Konvoy ™ of lies and half truths. These men of honor, are Viet Nam veterans all. More importantly, they either fought alongside Kerry (fellow officers and enlistedmen) or were members of Kerry's direct chain of command.

The "Swifties" have unleashed an ad that lays a direct hit on Kerry, not only questioning his fitness for command, but the validity of at least one of the purple hearts awarded to him. Oh the horrors! At long last Kerry is being called on the carpet for his actions. By the very group of people, if Kerry's record and actions were above board, who should be some of his strongest supporters.

But the Kerry camp and assorted followers, has not been idle. They have at one time or another, castigated the "Swifties" as being nothing but lapdogs of the Bush administration or the RNC. Or, not being (directly) related to Kerry's service in the Swiftboats, at all. These are flat out lies.

The Swiftboat vets, are being called to account for the ad which has challenged some of Kerry's wartime service. If it was any one else but this group, I could see a basis for Kerry's team, and others, complaint(s). This is not the case. Again, these men "have been there and done that", right along side Kerry.

They are also being taken to task for the new book "Unfit For Command" (which comes out on the 15th of this month) co-written by John O'Neill, the man who took over command of Kerry's boat after he left.

If Kerry and his ship of fools have a problem with either the men, their organization, or the book, then let the truth set you free. Don't give us rhetoric, counter the charges with facts.

1. Let us see your service record, ALL OF IT!

2. Point by Point offer evidence, not rhetoric, to the contrary.

3. If you took part in the war crimes you have alleged happened , you sir need to resign your seat in the senate, and drop out of the race for President.

4. If your alleged activities are indeed fabrications, YOU ARE GUILTY OF PERJURY (As far as I know, lying to a senate sub committee, while under oath, is a criminal offense.)

5. Either stand by your senate voting record, such as it is, and admit you are what and who you are (the most liberal senator in the senate), and be forthright about it. Or don't, and see your numbers slip on the polls, as your chances for reaching the oval office grow less with each passing day.

6. Apologize to the families of the MIA's and POW's you left for dead in North Viet Nam, and elsewhere, due to the actions of the sub committee you chaired, which is alleged to have done this very thing.

Get off the backs of the very men who would have given their lives to cover your back, had it been necessary. They are speaking from the heart. They are speaking the truth. For once show some personal accountability and integrity, do the right thing for yourself and America.

Do all of the above, and you may have a chance of getting the brass ring, the oval office. I'll be waiting to hear you take the high road, but I imagine all I will hear is....

Doghouses and Smoothies

It has come to our attention (that would be me, myself, and I), one of our fellow travelers has recently spent some time in the dog house. Now I am not going to even suggest this has never happened to me. Hell, the ex had me there so often I had the damn thing paneled, put in shag carpeting, and a bitching stereo system.
Even my loving wife these past six years, after threatening to give me "A Smoothee ™ " * , has sent this old Sailor to the married equivalent of solitary confinement on more than one occasion. (Spew alert for women)

This got me to thinking. ( end female spew alert )
We men have to let it be known just what the real guidelines of any relationship should be..right up front. Cause make no bones about it..we are The Man.
Now to be fair and (un)balanced, us men also understand were you women are coming from. And that would be right about here.

Gee, I wonder if I can get central heat and air put in that dog house?

* "A Smoothie ™" came to be via an old story, told by a caller to one of the local radio talk shows a
